Hi, newbie here with a strange problem. I'm running XP pro and have had no problems whatsoever until yesterday. I was printing some holiday pictures out and went out leaving the PC/printer running. When I got back the pictures had printed but the PC started to have problems. Now, whenever I try to view the pictures in "my Pictures" I just get a blue screen and go back to the desktop. I have a motherboard monitoring program and the icon disappears from those running at the right hand side of the taskbar, although the program is still running when I check task manager.

I can view jpegs stored elsewhere without a problem and it only seems to be the ones in "my documents ". I'm really stumped on this one. I had tried re-installing my VIA 4 in 1 drivers and no difference. Also thought it may be a cable issue so tried different IDE cable to no avail. Copying the pictures to another location makes no difference either.

My guess is that maybe the program is running but for some reason is not viewable.

Everything else in "my documents" (text and video files) are viewable without a problem.

Any ideas would be gratefully received as I'm looking at a complete re-install if I can't resolve.

    Thanks in advance

Lots of views but no replies so I guess everyone is as puzzled as me. ONe final thought - Does anyone think it may be PSU related?

I'm as stumped as everyone else.

Before you do a reload, try start~run~sfc /scannow which will replace any system files that may have gotten damaged.

And any strange problem calls for a good virus scan. Try Housecall which is online, free, and always up to date.

Is the window open but off the side of the screen? Look around your edges. I'm sorry if I'm just pointing out the obvious... but sometimes that's the last thing I think of. I've been stumped by a missing window before :)

Have you moved these same photos and successfully opened them elsewhere since the problem began? I guess the files could have been corrupted... there are viruses that will target your image files.

Certainly should run a virus scan!

    Padder ,

I am troublshooting a similar problem.

I have XP Pro, Software602 office suite, and Epson Stylus C82 printer. I can run any program in the suite if I uninstall the printer. With it installed, when I open any program in the suite, nothing opens but the processes lists the exe open.

I wonder if you are using this printer or software?
