I have experienced a really weird thing. Window wouldnt start up (thats not weird), but I got all kind of missing files messages like missing system files, blue screens where some with vxd call for some service and couldnt get it, vfat error making machine to freeze, not loading krnel32.dll and things like that.
I got into it and fixed a lot of it, but I gave up, I couldnt load manually all the windows files and drivers.
So I decided to install windows on top of the old windows (which is the thing I maybe shuld have done in the beginning).
But no way, started from boot disk and installation prosses started and stopped again. The installation program couldnt read from my cd rom.
So I decided to copy all the installation files from cd rom to c:.
But dos would only copy the smaller files (exe, com and so on), eventually it copied the cab files to but the cd rom stopped answering after copying 2 or 3 cab files (I copyed could 7 files one time, sometimes 0).
After a lot of trying I finished copy all the files to c: and run the windows installation program again, and JIPEE, as you see....

OOOps, just got a message from my virus scanner, I got
    f-edup.exe, virus name Dos.fedup.20
Well I suppose I dont have to ask you the cause of what happend anymore.
I will post this anyway in case someone else have the same problem and are searching for it.

    Take care,
    f.

I have to correct my post.
The f-edup.exe, virus name Dos.fedup.20 is NOT the file causing my trouble, this seems to be a file I installed from a cd rom a magazine. Its a port scanner or something like that. Its been on machine for ages. Very strange that the virus scan has not told my about it before, well when I think about it , I have never scanned the hole c: drive.

So please, can anyone explaine my problems stated above ?
Do I, or can I reinstall dos ?, and will it help ?

    Thanks all,
    f.
