Updated the modem drivers for external modem, but got a message not digitally signed.

    What does that mean?

I know this doesn't answer the specific question; but, if you refused to accept drivers that weren't digitally signed, you probably wouldn't be able to run your computer.

It has something to do with whether Microsoft has approved of the driver.

When I check the Device Manager

It identifies the modem correctly; so maybe it's just a little something that MS puts in to scare us?
