I just installed a (LG) CD-Writer into a Win98 PC which already had an HP Laser printer on LPT1 as well as an HP color jet on LPT2, via a parallel interface (PCI) card.

The CD Burner works great but now the Laser priner (on LPT1) doesn't work (hangs...).

When I try to look at the Properties of the printer in Control Panel the Printer aplet has become very unstable, ie. feeezes.

Need some expert advice on what went wrong and what to do to fix this...

    Many thanks and rgds,

    Glen

On un/installing the printer, that's the funny part...

When I click on the printer icon in Control Panel the PC becomes unstable (ie. freeezes up) so I can't get to the point where I can uninstall the printer.

Would starting in Safe Mode help here?

    Look forward to your ideas...

    Rgds, Glen

Couldn't hurt. Can you right click on it and remove it that way?

Have you looked in device manager to see if there's any conflicts? Just wondering if it could be an IRQ conflict.
