I am trying to redesign our intranet and would like users to be able to run locally installed applications by clicking on a link incorporated into a html page. I have tried just linking the icon to the relevant .exe, but it just promts for permission to download.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this or even if it is possible?..

    Thanks

You could display the exe in a frame (IFRAME)

  3. to hide this advert.

Thanks for that. I tried it and it works, but I don't think it would be ideal for our users. It needs to be simple and idiot-proof without any explorer windows.

It is only on one machine anyway, located in a company library, and really only needs to be a fixed desktop with shortcuts to .exe files mixed with a dynamic menu with links to websites.

I will have to see if I can find another way around it.

    Thanks again
