    Hello all!

I only create data CDs and will probably never create a music CD.

Anyone out there with experience of the inherent CD-burner software of Windows XP?

Is it good enough for my purpose or should I get third party software?

If so, which do You recommend?

    Thanks,
    Christer

If you're only casually writing data to CDRW, then the built in stuff works really well.
If you're ever burning iso's or creating backups beyond one CD worth (700mb) then Nero is the program of choice.
There are others, all cost money except one.
If you would like a link to the free one, let me know. It's Sony CD Extreme, based on the NTI CD maker engine.
For certain copyright reasons, I can't post the link here.

    Thanks for Your reply!

I use it mostly to burn a Ghost Image every two months or so and maybe I backup my documents folder a little more often.

I was thinking about Nero too and will probably get a copy sometime later when Im on WinXP.

If your burner is supported, Ghost will burn it's own image files.
The built in stuff would work well enough for a casual backup of documents and settings.

I regret having to inform You that I didn´t win the Symantec lottery! :D

It´s possible that my burner will work anyway but I won´t bother to find out. I like to have a copy of the Image on my harddrive as well since it´s quicker to use if the harddrive is OK (touch wood).
I do, however, keep an emergency copy on CDs.

    Thanks,
    Christer
