    Hi,

    I'm using IE 6.0 as my browser (running XP Pro as my OS). For some reason, whenever I launch IE now it takes like 30 seconds from when I double-click the icon to when the window actually opens. This has only started to happen within the last week. Never happened before. Usually, it opens right away (like it should).

    I tried restarting the computer, but it still happens. No other programs, files, or folders do it. They all open right away. Only IE takes like 30 seconds. And, it doesn't matter how I open it. From the Desktop icon, from the Program Files folder, from the Quick Launch button, even when I have an IE window open and go File, New, Window. That window takes 30 sec. to open. Weird.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Jon

    Have you tried deleting your temporary internet files and your history?

    Also if you haven't already done so run Disk Cleanup.

    You might also want to scan you system with Spybot and see what it finds. If you don't already have a copy of this free program you can download one from the following link;

    Spybot

    And I would suggest that you run a scan with Ad-Aware. If you don't already have a copy of this free program you can download a copy of the following link;

    You might also want to scan you system with BHO Demon. If you don't already have a copy of this free program you can download it from the following link;

    Thanks Rod!
    I did everything you mentioned and it's working fine now.

    First, I deleted the temporary internet files and history.
    That didn't help.

    So then I ran Disk Cleanup, then downloaded Spybot and ran that. Then downloaded Ad-Aware and ran that. I had both of them correct all errors found.

    That did the trick. I don't know what exactly cleared up the problem, but it was one of them. IE is working normally again.

    I did download BHO Demon, but never ran it since the problem was fixed. I'll probably give it a whirl at a later time.

    Thanks again!
