I have lost my 'delete' function in Outlook Express so I cannot delete anything. Would appreciate if anyone can explain why this has happened and how can I fix it. If I highlight the message and click delete it just says it cannot delete.

cag Welcome to the board :)

In version 5.0 or higher Outlook Express is tied to Internet Explorer and running the IE repair feature will usually fix the problem.
Turn off all other programs. Go to control panel/add + remove, when you click to remove Internet Explorer a menu will pop up, choose repair, reboot when finished. You should also be able to access repair by going to run and entering msinfo32, then choose repair from the tools menu.

Help for most Outlook Express problems can also be found here

Hi rcerratio, I did try but the machine was running old 98 and IE4 so there was no repair feature and I have decided to go for the reformat and upgrade to 98SE. Thanks anyway:)

cag--Doubt upgrading to Win98SE is going to help. What you need is a newer version of IE. Latest is 6.0. OE is part of IE, not Windows. Also newer versions of IE is how you get the "IE Repair feature ".
And,unless you need Network Connectivity and better USB support, there really is very little difference between Win98 and Win98SE, as long as you have been updating your Win98 from Windows Product Update. Save your money and the time to reformat.

Thanks for your advice Jim, but my nephews machine has not been updated at all since Win 98 was loaded and it was not only the Outlook Express Delete but Internet Explorer would not work at all so I could not go and get the updates. Thanks for explaining about Win 98SE, but the machine does have a HP Printer with USB connectivity so I thought it would provide quicker printing. I did try loading windows again, but that lost me the parrelel printing. I find these machines most frustrating and time consuming.:(

cag--If this is your nephew's PC and not yours, go ahead and reformat and reinstall whatever version of Windows you have. If your nephew has the original Windows98 on CD-ROM, there is no reason to spend money on Win98SE. Tell you nephew about Windows Update!!
