I enjoy and use MS paint often. This AM I was given a message that MS Paint had caused an error in MFC42.DLL and would close. I was instructed to restart. I did. I again tried to start "Paint" same message.
The only recent change in my system haas been the installation of a new printer.
    Can anyone help?:(

It sounds like the printer installed a different version of the MFC42.dll file and MS Paint has a problem using it.

Use System Restore to return to a point prior to the printer install and see if the problem vanishes. System Restore Info.

If so, then visit the support site for the printer and see if new drivers are available. While there check to see if your problem has been reported and recognized. If not submit it for further guidance.

You may also be able to use the System File Checker to see if the MFC42.dll file is missing or corrupt.

    :)

:) THAnK YOU ! I did as you suggested, went back to yesterday before I installed the new printer. I tried the MS Paint program and found that the MFC442 DLL could not be found at all. I then re-installed the new printer and th MS paint was restored to operational. thanks again Zephyr.
