How do you make the little icons in IE?

How do you make the little icons that appear when you add a site to favourites, like the yellow and blue one on this site?

 

Geordie: do a search for "favicons" on this BBS and you will find lots of info on how to create/save the "favicons" in your favourites list.

 

Didnt think of doing that, but I wanna know like how I would create one for my website, like what program etc.

 

Hi again! You can create a bitmap picture using MS Paint then save it as a bmp or jpg file. Then if you have IrfanView open the bmp or jpg file you created then do a "save as" an ICO file and you will have your customized "favicon ". Just how you attach it to your own web page so it's available to anyone viewing your page I don't know. But you can 'tag' your favourites listing buy using some of the techniques you found on the BBS.

If you don't have IrfanView, you can d/l from Here , it's freeware.

Edit: Here's a site with some info on creating and uploading favicons. Also do a search on Google 'favicons' there's lots of info.

Hi again. You got me going on the favicon thingy for our own web page. I used my avatar for this BBS, saved it as an ICO, saved to my web host site and edited my web page head tags to add in the favicon link, published the web page, and lo and behold it worked. Have a look:
