max limit in address book, OE6?

Does anyone know the max file size of the .WAB or the make number of entries in the address book before it disappears?

On my system, once I get to a wab of about 787K or so, all of a sudden, the address book listing in the lower left corner says "no addresses." First time it happened, I used Ghost to bring back an 30 day old version of my computer, then a month later it disappeared again. All that had happened "new" is that I had answered a few emails from people not yet in the address book.

Rather than Ghost back this time, i just grabbed an earlier .wab file that was about 450K, and BINGO! the address book showed back up instantly upon restart of OE6.

So the question is, what is the file size or number of entry size I should look for before I go clean out entries in the Address book?

Perhaps using subfolders will help? Any ideas welcome!

I've been keeping an eye out for an answer to this, but as of yet, haven't found one. How are you doing with it?

There is no limitation. Could it maybe be the case that the bigger it gets, the longer it takes to load?

There does seem to be a limitation, and I can recreate it 100% of the time. Once you get a .wab to about 780-800K, go look for a backup .wab or make a copy of your .wab and rename it, ie: change a.wab to b.wab, then IMPORT b.wab into your a.wab.. If the total is over 800K or so you're addresses as listed in the lower left hand corner of OE WILL disappear. The .wab will still be there, but it will no longer show up in the prog..

But you can still access the addresses via the WAB? It's simply that they're not listed individually under contacts?

I don't know how to access the addresses in the .wab to use them with OE if they don't appear in the OE program..

Let me know if I can import a .wab into another program to play with it, because at the point the address book disappears from OE, I'd love to be able to open it and delete 10 entries or so, so it would re-appear and I could use OE then to do housecleaning.
