i downloaded the language packs for traditional chinese but i can't get them to install.

then i read something about it being for windows xp embedded.

my question is, what's windows xp embedded? is there a way i can get my menus and icons to be in chinese without it?

    Windows Embedded.

And you may already have the language support you need. start~settings~control panel~regional and language options and look around a little.

Go to the Control Panel applet Newt mentioned and click the Languages tab, Text Services and Input Languages Details button and make your choices by clicking the Add button under Installed Services.

There are 5 choices for Input Chinese, and both Simplified and Traditional Chinese (US keyboard) for the Input Method Editor.

On the Advanced tab in Regional and Language settings is the option for menus and dialogs.

Most, if not all, of these language support files are on the XP CD.
