If you have Drive Image installed there should be an entry in the start menu to create rescue disks (or some such thing). Make the disks in windows and then put disk one in the floppy drive and reboot the computer. The puter will boot from the floppy. Follow the prompts and the program will load and that should be all there is to it. If you already have the disks do as I said and it should run. This assumes your bios is set to boot from the a drive first. Most likely it is.

Hi Alex I'll mention in passing that if you would keep your posts about this problem confined to the original thread, you'll get much quicker/better results.

That said, let me tell you how to use DI in DOS. First you must create the DI Rescue Disks. You do that while booted into Windows. Find the DI entries on the Start > All Programs menu and select "Create Rescue Disks" from there. You will need two blank formatted disks.

Once you have those created and identified, you can reboot with disk #1 in the drive and you'll be on the way to running DI in DOS. Follow the screen directions for inserting the second disk. The full program will be contained on those two disks.

If you are running any drive overlay program (e.g., GoBack or Disk Manager, etc.) let it load before placing the Rescue Disk in the drive.

    Cheers. :)
Hi Zander! You're quicker than I gave you credit for. :)

It's a good thing you posted your's anyway. I never gave a thought to the drive overlay. Would throw a wrench into things for sure! :)

Thanx again, guys, for your response.I'm really getting hooked on this forum!I've set BIOS to 'first bootable device-floppy' but for some reason computer wouldn't boot from it.I know floppy works and I just redone the rescue discs but still nothing.Quite strange.Any ideas?Thank you in advance Al.

When you say it wouldn't boot from the floppy, what error and other details did it give you.

As previously mentioned, if you are running GoBack, you'll have to wait until it loads and you get the banner screen with the option to press the spacebar for other boot options. Then you can select "Boot from Floppy" and put the disk in the bay. I say all this because you mentioned (in another thread) having Norton System Works and GoBack is included with that lately. Only you can tell us if you have chosen to install it.

We know DI is a well proven program and the Rescue Disks it makes are most assuredly bootable.

Give us the details and we'll try to sort it out. :)

    DI.

Hello, again!I did have GoBack disable(in fact it took ages to clear the history) but when I have floppy in the drive computer checks it and reads it for a sec and then just starts normally!?Meanwhile I've tried Ghost and it gives me the message 'Couldn't contact Ghost Start Agent 0x80040154.Not much luck there neither...Best regards Al.

I would advise you to uninstall all components of Norton and see if your system then works normally. If so, look around for an alternate product.
