I was on the internet this a.m. and up popped a box that said:

Message from Silicon Crack to 65.42.81.254 on 1/28/02 4:27am
You have been hacked. Have a good Day.

    www.siliconcrack.com

    OK

What does this mean? Is this a joke? I have adaware and 2 AV's running on computer. Also no Ads. How can I use them to know if I've been hacked?

Very little with the things you're running. You can download and run Tauscan for a trojan scan. And install a firewall, such as Zonealarm to see what is trying to get in and out of your computer?

Disabling the Messenger Service will prevent this type of spam.

Sal gal, you've not replied to your thread. Any progress in sorting this one out?

    Ok, sorry got busy

It seems to have been a legitimate pop-up ad, but since it said "hacked" in the message I thought someone was truly hacking me. And wondered why the No Ads and Firewall didn't catch it. Ran the AV, the Firewall, NoAds, Adaware -- just to be safe.

I added the popup to the NoAds list of vermin.

I get booted quite frequently (or so it seems) in yahoo games when I am about to win. (especially dominoes and spades).

I suspect im being hacked since it always happens right before
i am about to win (if it is to happen) and never if I lose.

I suspect that somehow the memory on my computer is being flooded causing it to lock up (sometomes with a windows sound
repeating over and / or the blue screen of death)/

Im forced to reboot - sometimes having to literally pull the plug and restart (since the HP has no reset button).

This happens with or without Yahoo messenger up which I am pretty sure i have done pretty well in stopping most attacks in messenger.

Im running Win98, 400mhz 96 meg ram Tiny software firewall and
    Mcafee antivirus.

Is there any way to stop it ? If not is there any way to find out what is being sent -- like a log perhaps --

    Just really frustrated.

    Thanks in advance.

I'd upgrade that ram some, if it were mine. As well, I'd go through msconfig's start up tab, and uncheck everything but the bare essentials, freeing up every last resource when playing those games.

Daizy, thanks for the information. I was able to delete (uncheck)
about 6 things in msconfig >startup and now sysbot generally
returns "Congratulations ". Processes are down from 26 to 21.

But the suspected hacking still happens in games. I suspect memory is being flooded but don't know how to stop it.

Can't upgrade the memory at the present time but I suspect that
would only delay the results. That is, it might take longer to
boot me and get the blue screen of death.

Again it doesn't always happen but never happens when i am losing only when about to win a game -- usually spades or dominoes. (on yahoo). (Even with Yahoo messenger not activated).
