Anyone know of an issue with Windows XP where the TCP/IP settings change from statis to dynamic without prompting?

I have a xp home pc that gets shut down every night. About once or twice every month the pc will boot and won't be able to access the network. When I check the TCP/IP settings on the adapter they have been changed to use DHCP. I have not made the change. With some battling I can get the static settings to stay...for a little while until it decides to do it again.
