    Hello,
I am fairly new to win2000 and I am now experiencing this problem: I have sent some files to the recycle bin and decided I wanted them back. I opened the RB and looked for the files, but...nothing... "this folder has 0 files "
Has anyone ever had this proble before?
Thank you for all the assistance you will be able to provide.

    Max:rolleyes:

The only reason I can think of off the top of my head is that either A. You were holding down shift when you deleted. or B. Your settings in RB properties are not correct. Either its set to remove immediately, which if thats the case uncheck that option, or your percentage is not high enough to accomidate your files size being deleted.

So I would first check your properties of RB.

    Files in the recycle bin...

    Hi Jim,
    thank you for your opinion.
Unfortunately none of the situations depicted really occurred.

This behaviour is regular and I did not change the properties of the bin, in fact the files are certainly still there, but RB would not show them.

I know this by the fact the icon shows a full bin and more importantly, because I put there an image I had on my desktop (backgound): until I chose to delete the invisible files, my background remained, but when I chose to delete them, the background was gone.
Please note that, for all this time, the icon showed a full bin, but when I looked inside, there was nothing.

Have you seen anything about this on the Microsoft web site? (knowledge base I mean)?
    Thank you,

    Max

I've had situations in the past with Win95, 98 and XP when the Recycle Bin icon indicated there as something there but when opened nothing was displayed. The only way I've found to correct the problem is to send a copy of something to the recycle bin and then empty it. The icon then returns to normal. Because this happens so infrequently I've been unable to figure out what causes it.

Also I was wondering, when you navigate to the Recycle Bin in Windows Explorer does it also show no contents?
