Bad idea even if you could do it. There have been lots of updates to the app since either CD was burned and the def files are updated almost daily. So a scan from the CD would be pretty near worthless.

If you like to have the AV at no cost, check out AVG.

If you like to scan from other than your hard drive, online scans available from TrendMicro, RAV, Panda or others.

thanks a lot for you answer. the problem is that if you scan on line or with your installed antivirus (my is norton), according to my knowledge, you cannot discover viruus in boot! or not?

To the best of my knowledge NAV does check the Master Boot record and the boot sectors of all partitions. It must . It always shows nine ( 9 ) boot records ( MBR + 8 partitions ) checked when it gets done on this machine.

An as to checking AV from the CD, I agree. It is more than like MONTHS out of date.

If you want to check AV other than from Windows you can make the NAV rescue flopppies. But NEW ONES MUST be made after updating the program or deffinitions. Ather wise they will be out of date very quicjly also.
