I've just recovered my hardfile & refreshed Office 2000 from the MS web site. All that done in Admin ID on W2KPro. Now I'm trying to get my personal ID set up & have 2 problems.

Opening docs in my Document folder gives a blank screen. I have to use file/open/ & point to the specific file on the HD to have it open in word.

When the files opens it shows the formatting chars in the doc (i.e. the funny backwards P to show paragraph & -> for tabs)

Can't remember how to reset the formatting.

    Any help gratefully accested

THAT WORKS. Thanks a ton. Fixed it for one doc, how do I make a global change for all docs

Maybe U can help with another problem.

I rebuilt the machine mostly in Admin user, and consolidated all documents into My document folder. Now when I point to a doc by Start/documents/doc name the WORD screen opens & it is blank. I get the same behavior clicking on a WORD doc in a folder.

The only way I can get the doc to open is use file/open & select from the specific file location.

The start, docs, is like a history folder. Since it sounds like you moved everything. Go to start, settings, taskbar, and clear the docs folder. Once you start opening docs, they will reappear in the start, docs. Also, Office has a detect and repair feature. You need the original install disk. You can put in the disk, and the options to repair should appear. If not, open one of the Office programs, ie Word. Click on help, detect and repair. Again you need the disk, and it takes awhile. Post back good or bad. This may also repair the formating marks for all docs.
