the only problem with AVG is that it is not updated very often...

Geezer? I've never left mine to automatically update. I do it manually every morning...and I get plenty of updates?

    Probably ZA blocking.
If I remember, Housecall mentions right on the start page about disabling firewalls, and other AV programs before running it.

The growth of viruses and trojans has lead to an increase in antivirus software vendors.
Gladiator Security Labs, which is one of the new vendors, is offering security software for FREE.

    Daizy - re AVG
I stand corrected.. I installed the program a couple years back
on my Win95 and am still laboring under their recommendation of available updates on fifth day of each month.

    Thanks for the update
By the way, I have ezTrust from Computer Associates on this computer which is working very well (or I'm not hitting the right sites).. anyway it's $20/yr for home or personal computers.
Updates more than once daily, as necessary.

    Jazzbo,
a couple points- check out the retail deals on Mcaffee. Often the retail deals (with rebates ?) are better than the subscription rates. These packages usually come with a year of updates included and you would be getting a more current robust ? product. Some adults are too lazy or don't know how to
install software so for them the easiest way is to take out the credit card.
Secondly a very knowledable friend of mind who used to swear by Norton and had seen a couple of horror stories is very pleased with Kapersky Anti-Virus. His take is that because it is
a Russian product being marketed by an agent it is not fully appreciated. Updates are good. Tech calls are very good and in excellent English but the dime is yours to....
to check it and other anti virus software

One last thing to be debated is the insistence by my son that many of anti -virus software vendors put in false alarms into their products to convince you of the merit of and your vital need
for their product. Any merit to this ?a
