    Hi all

is there any way that I can make a _totally_ clean install of Windows98 onto the C: partition of a PC which has old versions of Windows on its other partitions, please...

every time I have tried this, Windows has insisted on finding the other (old) versions and has insisted in copying bits from them. This is what I want to avoid.

perhaps remaning certain files and folders on the other partitions might disguise the older versions sufficiently?

Better, is there a command line switch that stops setup from finding older versions? Run: Setup /nobble or something...

I only have the upgrade CDROM so would be putting W3.11 or W95 on first

I was going to do it onto a separate HDD which would have worked fine, but I cannot get that one bootable (despite fdisk, formatting, even tried norton) I can sys it OK but it doesn't become bootable because of ez-bios hassles. Even maxtor's utility doesn't do it. Grrr. (probably 'coz the ez-bios was Western Digital's??)

    any suggestions much appreciated!

    Good Luck all, Hugh.

Find all the win.com files and rename them (win.sav) untill after the install!
