Windows98SE, Pentium II processor, 20gb HDD

Problem when switched on - monitor is not responding and acting like it's in permanent sleep mode.

Checked out HD/Graphics card/processor in other pc and they all checked out ok.

Tried all components with another motherboard and the problem still remains.

Help Help Help..... getting so frustrated

Can anyone suggest a remedy to my problem
Would be most grateful for any ideas thrown this way.

    Cheers

    Some questions:
Does it sound/look like it is booting to the hard drive...eg: Led's come on, fans run etc?
    Any beeps? One/none?

    Ideas:
Have you tried the monitor itself on another system? (I see Dennis L just posted this one :)
You could try clearing the CMOS. It should tell you how in the motherboard manual.
Maybe RAM, try reseating or changing slots. Starting without any RAM should give error beeps otherwise it may be a faulty motherboard.

If no video on the screen at all during boot, the bios or mobo is likely defective. You should always get the bios video displayed when booting or else how would you ever set the system up initially.

There's an outside chance that the power supply has failed.

This assumes you meant you also tested the monitor when you said you tested "All Components" on another system.

    :)

Zephyr is correct, but there may be an exception if I understand your problem correctly. I experienced a blank screen after setting the max. resolution for the display higher than specs and then rebooting. It was necessary to go into safe mode and reset display resolution to an acceptable tolerance.

If you or someone else changed the setting, that may be the problem
