    Hi,
We are beginners, so please be patient with the "simplified language"
Our computer will not advance into some pages when on-line....starts to load them and then simply stops. (For example will go to Ebay but will not click and open an auction.....will go to pogo.com but won't open the game to play)
AFTER the problem started we Ran a virus check (NO virus) Reinstalled Windows 98 (2nd version) Updated Microsoft Internet Explorer from 5.0 to 6.0, Dumped Cookies and tried the Clean Boot Troubleshooting suggestions that Microsoft has on line.....none of these have worked.
Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
    Jim and Judi

Hi, I am having exactly the same problem with ebay. I can get into the site alright but I can't place a bid on anything. The following page just won't load. Have you had any luck in solving your problem. If so, I would love to know the solution. Thanks.

Sounds like a problem of mine, and I think I've narrowed it down to a JAVA thing.. Good luck with that. Post if you find a solution.

Jim, I just learned of a great site that tests for Java presence, identifies
the version used, provides download links, and has various pieces of
information and advice that are on target:
    www.javatester.org

EDIT: The javatester.org site doesn't seem to be working right now but the others are.

Hi, I solved my problem with eBay. It turned out to be something to do with the Proxy Server being enabled. Check yours and it might solve your problem:

Open Internet Explorer, click on Tools > Internet Options > Connections, highlight ISP, click Settings and disable the Proxy Server.

Let us know if it works for you.

Having said that, Pogo has always worked on my computer and the above may have absolutely nothing to do with your problem.

congrats on your victory... I looked into your suggestion but, alas, my proxy server box was unchecked on every configured connection. Thanks though, it's the thought that counts. I'm still waiting for advice on whether or not to delete msjava.dll before installing a new (but the same) version.

    PS
whatsathedeal .......with that "internet slow down" and www virus ? It's been all over the news today? Anybody experence a problem last night or today?
