    Hi,

I was just about to upgrad my copy of Nero Burning Rom. I was having problems getting Nero burnrights to work properly, I uninstalled this and it automatically rebooted. When i get back into windows, my firewall no longer booted up automatically, neither does my AntiVirus, and most other auto start applications. I go into my firewall to manually enable this and I can no longer do this and to view options it asks me for me to be supervisor.

    Norton Personal Firewall 2003
Symantec AntiVirus Small Business Edition 8.0

It looks like Nero has messed about with my Admin priviliges account, any ideas on how to fix this??

    Many Thanks

    JP

If the account is a member of the administrators group and the two items you mentioned are the only trouble spots you've seen, take ownership of the folders while logged in with that account.

    Thanks for your reply.

I've checked the ownership of the folders that contain these two items. I've done a screen grab of the Norton
Personal Firewall Console( http://www.aonv51.dsl.pipex.com/diagram.gif ) , I'm not sure if you're familiar with NPF or not, but on the right of the console in the blue area, there should be option buttons, these should only appear in admin/power users mode - I'm logged on in Admin mode. Also I've right clicked the NPF folder in Program files, I seem to have full control over the folder but it's still not working. Another thing I've noticed is that I'm also unable to view any sites with the secure protocol https://.

    Thanks

    JP

Take Ownership of the folders regardless of what shows up. It may well fix the problem. And it certainly won't make things any worse.
