OK, this should be easy for most, I know I said "Experienced" in my profile...but I need help with this.

I need to be able to safely remove or disable loadqm.exe from my system.

I do not use MSN or MSN Messenger, I do use Outlook 2000.

    Can anyone help?
It's real easy to disable it in Win98.

I did do a search for this on the board but couldn't find answer for Windows 2000.

    Thank you

    Cnet and search for regcleaner.

Download it. Run it. You can delete the entry from the startup list.

(and thanx to Brett since I pretty much stole that answer from one of his posts to another forum a few months ago. :D )

    True Ron.

RegCleaner is special in that it allows more specific control.

You can look for entries for software you know you installed long ago or things like netsape or aol that came with Online Services.

And clean these orphan and dregs up.

Has anyone noticed that if you do a custom install of any version of any windows OS from 95 thru XP and uncheck Online services that it installs anyway. Also that if you go to add/remove windows components that it still don't remove completely.

One of the first things I do is go to add/remove windows and uncheck then do a search for it to completely eradicate it.

But anyway Ron don't short change the EasyClean and RegScrub. They will both still find things even after RegCleaner does its "Find all ".

They are all very good. EasyClean also does more than the registry.

If you use EasyCleans Start menu cleaner do not remove anything it complains about.

And if you use the duplicate finder you better only use it on documents and jpg etc., things you know for sure what they are. Stay away from windows files dll's etc. Get rid of the wrong dupe here you could be dead in the water.

    Cool....

I will look for EasyClean and RegScrub.

But regarding RegClean, there are things in my Windows task Manager that do not show up in RegClean.

For instance ccPxySvc.exe which is a norton mail scan utility.

    I found that out here:
    http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_pages/startup_full.htm

I'd like to be able to disable or UnInstall stuff that I see when I CTRL ALT DEL. (Windows 2000 Pro)

    Any suggestions...thank you,

    Ron

I just checked it. It is live for me. Try again.

Now for startups. Yes Regcleaner will miss a few in 2k and XP!

But this one finds them all and allows simple total control of all starups.

Disable enable delete or move from one startup type to another.

    Startup control panel
    http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

This gives simple and full control of what starts at boot up. After install there will be a Startup icon in control panel.

You may want to look at AntiSpyXp also:

    http://www.webattack.com/get/xpantispy.shtml
Select everything except these 4 items.

    1. Don’t show balloon tips
    2. Enable fast shutdown
    3. Increase MaxConnectionsperServer to 10
    4. Disable Task Scheduler service

After the first reboot after you run XPAntiSpy go back to XpAntiSpy and uncheck the clear Pagefile at shutdown, as we only want to clear it once.
