I have a folder in C:\Windows\System32 called %userprofile%, just like a system environment variable name. It's *NOT* in the user's folder (C:\Users). No idea how it got there. See screenshot below.

This folder "C:\Windows\System32\%userprofile%" only contains a folder called "OneDrive" which is itself empty, so there's no data within the folder structure.

I suspect I can just delete this folder, but looking for confirmation from others before doing so to avoid consequential problems.

    Thanks.

Hi Ludwig, If you use "One Drive" I would leave it alone.
Personally I do not use One Drive or any "cloud" storage.
I have an idea that I deleted or unchecked it from the OS.
The same as Google wanting to store my info. No Way.
    Personal choice of course.

I would never Delete a folder under Windows unless I had a very specific reason to do so. And that other people had done so as well.

%userprofile% is a system variable used by programs to redirect to another folder
Usually, your user profile folder and in this case probably by OneDrive.
If want to check where just copy and paste if into file explorer address bar and hit enter.

Agree with everyone - would not delete it
