Trying to figure out what happened to my (elderly) mother's emails. Whenever she composes an email, her pictures are automatically copied within itself. She has to physically remove the copied part before sending it. Because this can be a daunting task if she's sending a lengthy email, she'll sometimes just send it the way it was composed.
Is there some setting that needs to be changed? I've tried googling the issue, but not having any luck (using the wrong terms maybe?)

    Thanks!

Hi Vicki, Is your mother inserting pictures (copy & paste) into the text or is she attaching an image?

Apparently duplicate images in SIGNATURES within Outlook is a common issue... But I'm guessing that isn't what she is doing... I did find the following:

If images are showing twice in Outlook email, try the following solutions:
    1. Make sure you aren't using Outlook in offline mode and have configured it to download pictures in email automatically.
    2. Run Outlook in Safe Mode to check if a third-party add-in is causing the issue.
    3. Ensure the email format is set to HTML.
    4. Match the HTML display size and the actual image size.
    5. Linked images are sent as embedded.

Sorry it's been so long in responding but the mystery continues. I have come to think it might be from the Firefox browser she uses that is causing her (inserted) pictures in her emails to replicate themselves.
While I was there to visit, I noticed she also has a Chrome browser installed. While I'm not very familiar with the operations of that browser, I was able to log in to her Outlook.com email and when trying to create an email (with the inserted picture) it did NOT replicate itself!
I've heard that "refreshing" Firefox came sometimes resolve issues, but I'm reluctant to try that in fear it won't make any difference or that her personal settings might be affected.
I can't expect her to change her browser at this time in her life as she's relying on me for helping her & my knowledge is very limited as well (that why I love coming to this site, so many times I've been helped!)
All the help given is always appreciated!

Number of browsers installed should have absolutely nothing to do with this. You can use any browser & the end result should be same.

    From a google AI query:

    • AI Overview
      Learn more
If you're seeing double images in your Outlook.com emails when accessing them through Firefox, it's likely due to a compatibility issue between your browser settings and the Outlook web interface, often caused by issues with caching, extensions, or even the browser's zoom level; try clearing your Firefox cache, disabling any potentially interfering extensions, checking your zoom settings, and ensuring you're using the latest version of Firefox to resolve the issue.
Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot:
      • Clear your Firefox cache and cookies:
        • Open the Firefox menu (three horizontal lines in the top right corner).

    • Select "History" > "Clear Recent History."

    • Choose "Cache" and "Cookies" and select the desired time range (usually "Everything").

    • Click "Clear Now."
    • Check your zoom level:
      • Press Ctrl + 0 (or Command + 0 on Mac) to reset the zoom to 100%.
      • If the zoom is not set to 100%, adjust it accordingly.
    • Disable browser extensions:
      • Access Firefox menu > "Add-ons and themes."

    • Temporarily disable all extensions and check if the double image issue persists.

    • If the problem is resolved, re-enable extensions one by one to identify the culprit.
    • Update Firefox:
      • Open the Firefox menu.

    • Select "About Firefox" to check for available updates and install them.
    • Check Outlook.com settings:
      • Log in to Outlook.com directly in your browser.

    • Access your settings and check for any display options that might be causing image duplication.
