I have a new computer and am having a problem getting sound through the HDMI connection. I don't think it is a faulty port as I get sound sometimes and the video is fine.
I sometimes get it and then it drops, sometimes when it drops I can get it back if I switch to mono sound but not always.

Last night I did a "Fix without resetting" and it was working after that but now it is struggling again.

The sound is functioning properly through the 3.5mm port and via Bluetooth.

    Any ideas?

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer if it is a new computer?

No. Apparently a one off problem.

I suspect only a reset may solve it but that's a hassle and no guarantee of success.

For the time being at least, this seems to have corrected itself but I haven't a clue how. However, it seems to get disengaged when the Bluetooth Speaker is connected and re-engages when it is not. Keeping an eye on it for a bit before I mark this as solved but does anyone know why a Bluetooth connection might interfere with and HDMI connection?

Nope. That didn't work either. If I reboot, then I get sound over the HDMI connection but after a while, it disappears. This is after removing the Bluetooth pairing completely.

    the 3.5mm connection is working.
