Update KB5034441 results in error 0x80070643

It happened at the january update-tuesday as well.

In the meantime, I have rolled back (using an image) the operating system to prior to this update being attempted. When finished and restarted, it catched up on the updates but KB5034441 was not attempted.

Now, at the february update-tuesday, it attempted KB5034441 and it states "download error" (translated from Swedish).

So, the same result as last update-tuesday! Anyone else?

 

I have the same issue, but have decided to ignore it as I believe it is related to Bitlocker which I do not use. Apparently it is caused by the Recovery Partition being too small and I have no intention at present to undertake a risky enlargement.

Okey, that makes two of us, at least!

I did go Google on the error code and KB-number in january and I was under the impression that a fix was planned but obviously not this quick, if ever.

I'll follow your exampel and ignore it but I'm afraid that the OS will carry out renewed attempts to install the update, indefinitely!

 

I've got two computers, a LapTop on which KB5034441 does not install and a DeskTop on which it does.

The DeskTop has its origines as a dual-boot with the original HDD partitioned in three, XP, W7 and Data. W7 has been upgraded to W10 and XP is no longer used but the partition is still there. The system has also been transfered from the HDD to a SSD.

So, there is no Recovery Partition and the XP Partition is set up for dual boot. I haven't checked if there has been changes made to it or if the update KB5034441 has only been noted as "not applicable".

Thanks for Your input, I´ll have a read but I think that I´ll sit on my hands until a redesigned update is released.

 

That one installed w/o problems on both my DeskTop and LapTop (on which KB5034441 fails).

I wonder why it states "download error" when the real reason seems to be "too small Recovery Partition"?

 

KB5034441 came back to annoy me this month and it probably will the next and the next and ... ... ! Microsoft obviously have no plan for a fix so why not withdraw the update? My computer works just fine without the bloody thing!

 

Same here on the desktop, but it installed successfully on the laptop (HP) in January.

 

On my LapTop, when the update failed the first time, I tried installing it several times on the same day and the number within brackets was increased by 1 each time.

After that, I restored an Image of the system to get back to "square one". Since then, I have not manually tried to install KB5034441. Each month when Microsoft makes another futile attempt, it gets listed as failed but no number within brackets.

With your experience and mine combined, you could draw the conclusion that it seems to step up the number within brackets inconsistently, like much of what Microsoft do ... ... !

 

Or it's failing earlier and earlier and never reaches the part where it increases the count.

My DeskTop is a dual boot (originally Windows XP and Windows 7 but upgraded to Windows 10). It has three partitions, C: (XP), D: (7/10) and E: (data). The boot files are installed on C:. No Recovery Partition > no attempt to install KB5034441.

My LapTop has Windows 10 "factory installed" and it has the Recovery Partition. MS repeatedly tries to install KB5034441 but it fails when checking the size of the Recovery Partition which isn't big enough. Since I have not and will not mess with the partition sizes, MS will continue the attempts until either MS fixes/removes the update or I scrap the LapTop.
