Did you see the kb5031445 cum update 10-26, an optional update. Wonder if it works. I am currently on pause too.

Regarding KB5031445, I never install an optional update, unless I know that I really need it.

This evening (here in Europe) I reactivated Windows Update and three updates were installed.

KB4023057 (which was, without my intervention, installed yesterday on my LapTop)
    KB5032339 for .NET Framework
    KB5032189 for 22H2

No sign of the offending KB5031356 but it is still listed as failed, probably since my attempt to manually download and install it.

My strategy to sit on my hands payed off!

Almost 2 hrs now. I read somewhere to give it 2 to 3 hours. Keeping fingers crossed.

Too bad and it seems like Windows Update is a Random Result Generator, this time with a different code.

I'm using TeraByte to create drive images but that has to be done when everything is running as it should. With age, I've become less and less active and my most recent image is from 2019 (when I converted the system from HDD to SSD) but restoring it would be my solution. It would beat a reinstallation and maybe something for you to consider, once you've got it sorted?

Downloaded the media creation tool win10 today and reinstalled windows took a long time but it worked and I am back up again. I previously had 22H2 build 3448, it installed an earlier version 2095. And in window at first it said windows is up to date, but when I checked for updates it listed a number of them including the Nov cum update which caused all of the latest problems but no sign of the Oct cum update. Put it on pause again while I try to think this out. Since I have reinstalled win10 maybe I should give it a try and update and see what happens.

KB5032189 Nov cum update is worse that KB5031356, It really messed up my computer. It failed to install, but, did not revert back to before the attempted installation. Took awhile but I finally got the computer to startup again. I downloaded the Media Creation Tool today on my other computer and put it on a USB stick. Ran it on the problem computer took over 2 hours but it finally reinstalled Win10 22H2 build 19045.2965 which actually is older than build 3448 that I had. The computer is now working great again, but, one of the now available updates is KB5032189, don't see KB5031356 anywhere. Have updates on pause again, but, am hoping that the reinstalled Win10 will accept it, but, also, afraid that it will bring back the problems it caused. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
