I installed a Generic Card Reader Drive w/USB function and the only thing I can read is a USB stick. The drive has two connectors, one for the USB and the other for SD, TF, etc. Device Manager shows the drive working but inserting any TF or SD disk doesn't register. Windows 11 PC.

Have you tried a different USB connection?
    USB 2.0 or USB 3.0?

The SD card reader has it's own USB connector which plugs directly into MB. That part seems to work. The SD reader is what doesn't register anything inserted, even though device manager sees this device. That part also plugs into MB but in different slot.

STW through Amazon. Device Manager shows this:
    Generic USB CF Reader
    Generic USB MS Reader
    Generic USB SD Reader
    Generic USB SM Reader
    Says all drivers working normally.
Supposedly contacted seller and they requested detailed information which I sent and their final response was to return to Amazon. In other words they couldn't help.

Do you mean the USB connector/s on the BACK Panel of your PC?
Can you try the card reader in another computer to verify it's faulty?
Does the card reader look like the unit shown in my link in Post #4?
    What does STW stand for?

Thanks for your help. I am considering the return and just get a reader that plugs into USB.

I purchased the same product you suggested. Unfortunately, I still have problems. I have inserted SD disk and looking at PC a green loading bar goes across screen and stops prior to end. Media doesn't show up. Reader has blue indicator light which is on and flickers when media is inserted. Also product does show up in Device Manager. I have never in my life experienced this much trouble with a simple disk drive. Actually not until I loaded WIN 11 that is.

Did everyone give up on this. I have tried this unit in 3 different devices. They all show the device in Device Mgr. I hear the unit being inserted by a tone, but still no visual action in MY PC. This is a USB connect Transcend Media Card Reader.

Well, in my humble opinion, you have a bad device. If not, it should of worked on at least one of the PC's that you tried it on.

I cannot think of any reason why it does not work.
You have the same Gigabyte X570 M/B with AMD Ryzen CPU installed.
I plug in the Transcend card reader to a USB connector, and immediately the content of the SD card shows on the screen.
The same applies if I put in a MicroSD card - content shows on the screen immediately.
Is it to do with Permissions in Properties? Attributes?
Check on mine is in Read only.

Some more input. I purchased a USB stick that has slots for micro SD card and adapter card. It registers on Device Mgr., as well as showing up on My PC but when media card is inserted Green Progress Bar goes slowly across screen until it get to the last 1/4 inch and there is hangs up. This has got to be the weirdest problem I have ever encountered. I hope someone can solve it.
