Couldn't find any help using search.....
I run sfc occasionally, but not very often. The last time I ran it, maybe 6 mos ago, it started and ran just fine. From the command prompt as administrator, sfc/ scannow will not run. Instead, I get a bunch of info that tells about the various files and what they do. tried again from the same window, and get the same results. It returns me to the prompt. Rebooting doesn't help. Run dism? Thanks.

    Thanks for the replies.
Everything seems to be running OK. I just run it every 6 mos or so just as a precautionary check. About a year ago, when I ran it, it found a couple of files that it fixed.

It probably wouldn't run the command because you did not type it correctly.
sfc /scannow is the correct command.

It was typed correctly. After entering the command, and hitting enter, it just displayed a screen full of info on sfc, but wouldn't start the scan. First time that's happened.

Hi XP dummy, From your reply to my Post, the space in your command which was quoted in your Thread was I assume a typo on your part?
I would not have taken the time to Post if it didn't seem obvious why your command wouldn't work. TIA.
    Has the DISM helped?

    retired learner,
Nice catch! I get a little nervous when I encounter computer issues, and my finger trembles before I start hitting keys.
Good thing I haven't had the time to rum DISM. I got the space in the correct position in the command prompt, and sfc ran just fine. No integrity issues. So once again, the computer is smarter than me.
Thanks retired learner for the easy fix, and thanks to all who responded.
