since the 1st of the year (2023) I noticed certain sites will now cause my laptop to get a black screen, then white screen, then freeze up. Also all the other window tabs I have open at the bottom are just showing FF (up to date) logo.

Thought maybe video card was going bad. I ran Dells the trouble shooting utility and everything looks good.
I see the sites this occurs on are updated by the way they look. I can watch a youtube video & stream a movie without any problems. I am wondering if this issue could be because I am still using these sites with w-7?

One caveat, when on youtube & I click notifications even where there are none, I get the black screen. But again, no black screen when watching youtube videos.

    Thank You

Is it the laptop or the website?!?!?
Can you post a link to one or more of the sites in question?

The YouTube Notification sure seems and acts like a POP UP...... I wonder if your browser or anti virus is causing the problems and is blocking access? iCloud is similar...

Thank you Steve. I turned off off up blocker in FF & adblock, still having the same issue. Are you able to access youtube notification with out any problems using w-7?

I'm on Win 10.... Chrome and Edge don't have a problem with YouTube Notifications.... Under SETTINGS, Notifications has several options. You could play around with enabling those.

Thanks Steve, but I'll still have the icloud issue. Perhaps I can try to use Edge on W-7 or it someone here can confirm if it is indeed a W-7 problem & I need to update to 10

End of support date for W7 January 10th. 2023.
You may experience many problematic occurrences. eg. Edge and Chrome support ending.
Looks like your safest move is to upgrade your OS.

Yep looks like. I'll have to look in in the W-10 forums to figure out how to do that. My laptop will not handle W-11

    Thank You

It should be quite straight forward if you look through these links thoroughly.
You can download the ISO to USB thumb drive which you can retain in case of problems later.

Ended up taking laptop to a repair shop. Solved the problems with the screen going black by upgrading to 10 & I also had a SSD put in. Really like 10 & with the SSD everything is noticeably faster. Now I can take my time looking for a new laptop with 11 on it, this one won't handle 11 Have a issue with my BT but will make a new post.

    Thank you guy's so much.
