I am the Education Coordinator for a Computer Club in a retirement community. The Corporate Entity provides our club a room and 10 computers - all with Windows 10 and Office 2016. Our club owns 2 laptops that we use for teaching but they only have Office 365 installed. We have asked our Corporate Office to install 2016 on our teaching laptops but policy may not permit that.
In the interim, I have been looking at purchasing a couple of copies on line - all I have found are limited to use on one machine. Looks like we would have to pay about $40 to $50 per machine - not that big an issue for our club. However, I am a bit fearful of purchasing on line. I checked the Microsoft website to see if I could purchase it there but all I could find were updates and offers to sell me 365 all over the place.
    Any thoughts or recommendations?

Hi Robert, I have made 3 Online MS Office Home and Student (2010, 2013 & 2019) purchases. The licence is for one comp (lifetime) and you are generally supplied with the Key which is for Activation.
I have had no problems with this set up.
As Steve advised, they were Download from MS and you can request a CD/DVD or USB copy from MS which is provided free in case of the need to Reinstall at any time.

Thanks for the recommendations. I don't think we want to spend $300+ to teach a couple of classes. Perhaps corporate will take pity on us and download 2016 on our teaching computers. Otherwise, we are back to our original plan - use 365 on the display at the front of the classroom and hope we, and the students, can handle the differences.

Thanks for the link. However, I couldn't find any 2016 Word or Excel there.

I unsolved this thread on 1/24. Have found a copy of Office 2016 at CDW for $45. Will probably go with that.
Question - as Office 365 is already installed and used on our Club's laptop, will installing Office 2016 have any adverse impact. Anything lurking that could mess things up?

The safe thing to do is uninstall 365 first. Office will often let you have two versions installed. MS Outlook is the app most likely to give you problems if you install a second.

Got 'er Done. Thanks to all for comments & recommendations. Office 2016 is no longer retailed by Microsoft. One must sort through the many "Microsoft Legacy" retailers and the unbelievable quantity of price options and the variance of descriptions of the product and try to come up with one to take a chance on.
I selected Indigo Software at $69.99 and crossed my fingers. Within minutes I had the Key and very good instructions. I logged in to our Computer Club's Microsoft Account and proceeded to the download location. Simply followed the instructions through to download and install and within a half hour or so was using Excel and Word 2016. So our instructor's teaching laptop will now be in sync with the lab computers used by the students in the classes,
When I checked the Club's Microsoft Account later, the "new Office 2016" showed up in the list of items purchased by our Computer Club along with the subscription we have to Office/Microsoft 365. So all appears to be legit.
Per Steve's suggestion above, I did uninstall the Office 365 from the computer in question so I may have saved myself some future headaches. We have one other teaching laptop that still has the Office 365 installed so we can now teach from either.
