Hi SCF, Thanks for your update.
The installed date refers to the date the Version was installed. i.e. Version 21H2.
My W10 Pro 64bit AMD comp is showing:
    Version: 22H2
    Installed: 7/01/2021
    OS Build: 19045.2311
    Windows FEP: 120.2212.4190.0

The differences will be between Windows 10 Home and Pro.
Because mine is running an AMD CPU not approved by MS, I cannot upgrade to W11.

As you suggested it would be best to see if Symantec (Norton) has been your slow down but Evan's suggestion to make the change to SSD's is the option which should speed up your comp.

I will consider that. Thanks. I'll also try to test the reboot this weekend, but the wife has a full schedule all planned out :(.

Hi SCF, I should have mentioned that all my comps (3 Desktops and 2 Laptops) from Startup to desktop are less than 30 seconds.
Both laptops are Intel CPU (8th and 11th Gen).
The 3 Desktops are AMD CPU (1=FX and 2=Ryzen 5th Gen).
The Ryzen comps both run NVME M.2 SSD's and both laptops also.
The FX comp is a 2.5" size 1TB SSD.

At my age, time matters and I don't want to wait too long for the PC's to fire up.:D

Keep us posted but uninstalling Norton will make a small difference but the biggest improvement is switching out the hard drive with an SSD.

I provided a link to what SSD you should buy in my first post and I can provide instructions for how to migrate your data and operating system over to the new drive without losing any data. It is definitely worth doing and you will be amazed at the improved performance.

See this video as an example of the performance between a hard drive and a solid state drive, New PC with old hard drive vs Old PC with new SSD.

I'll keep you in mind. I'd like to make the swap to SSD. Thanks.

Finally got to test cold boot time. 2 mins to desktop, 4 mins until it's actually usable (after init pgm load), and 8 mins until HD access light is no longer on solid (final pgm load). Hey... that's not too bad. I can live with that. I guess Norton was eating my lunch... and I was paying them for it, too! I still feel that my registry has some dead stuff in it that could be helped by a good cleanup program, but that can be a bit scary. I'd hate to have some program trash my registry.
I'll wait for any last comments before closing this thread. Thanks everyone.

Evan, I'm interested in the instructions you mentioned about migrating from HDD to SSD. I'd like to get 2 and set up a RAID array.
