Hi: I have recently upgraded (with disk) from Win 98 SE and went to XP Pro. I cannot open attachments. I have one son in Turkey (Air Nat. Guard) and a son in Arlington Tx. They both sent me attachments and I could not open either one.

Check to see if this is your problem,
Open up outlook express go to tools->options-> click on the security tab clear the box beside the line "do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus. "
