    Copying Profiles

OK, what you need to do is right-click on My Computer, click on Properties, then go to the User Profiles tab. If you used the same logon ID then you should see two entries for each ID:
    ComputerName\ID1
    Domain\ID1
Highlight the local (computername) profile and click Copy To... Under the Copy profile to section, browse to C:\Documents and Settings\ID1.Domain and click OK (note: don't open the ID1.Domain folder, just highlight it). Next click Change... and select the users domain ID. After clicking OK a number of times, you will be prompted about overwriting, say Yes. Typically what Windows does is append the ID with a .domainname when there are duplicate names locally and on a domain.

This is assuming that you are using local profiles. If you are using roaming profiles, then just browse to where you're storing your roaming profiles intead of C:\Doc... etc. and copy the profile there.

    Good luck!

    Nice

    Good advice from Duree.

    Too late now but.....

You could have kept a workgroup on server, "IF" you are not connected to another seperate network or have some special requirements of a Domain.

For 5 computers in stand alone mode (not connected to another network) not needed normally.

No problem, but just a level of complexity to configure and maintain that is not nessesary. In addition a small, very small processor cycle user.

hopefully someone will come back to this thread.........

my question is, if i copy the local profile to the domain profile, will this sync the two profiles. what i'm trying to do is save changes made under one profile to the other, and vice versa.

btw, im tryin to do this in xp pro as we speak. right now its trying to copy the local to the domain................hopefully i did this right.
