Here are the specs of a new laptop I am considering. I took another look at the configuration and saw the ram is 8+4gb this is the only way I can order it. Will this still perform well for me. No gaming.

The only thing that I would make sure of is if it has a replaceable battery. Several now don't and when the battery dies, you have to leave them plugged in all the time while you are using them.
Rest of it doesn't look bad.

The usual RAM setup may involve 4GB soldered to the motherboard and 4GB's in the RAM slot.
I have a new Lenovo IdeaPad 3 17ITL6 which had this RAM setup with a 256GB NVME M.2 storage.
I replaced the 4GB stick with a 16GB stick (max 20GB's) and replaced the NVME with 1TB storage.
It works real quick now.;) The i3 CPU is an 11thGen.
The battery is a replaceable unit (new gel type).

This is a Inspiron 15 series 3000 I am not sure how the 12gb of ram is configured. I am OK wth the 512 SSD, from what I have read though, having 16gb of ram with two slots with 8gb each, would let me run duel mode. The problem with that, is the price goes way up for that.

Tony, can you tell by the specs I posted whether or not the 4gb of ram is slotted, where I can pull it out and add another 8gb
