After years of posting questions on windows bbs, irony of ironies, I never get replies. So I'm just leaving.

 

Wow! I am sorry we did not resolve your problem but you must remember, all helpers are volunteers who willing give up their spare time to help others, like you - for free!

It is important to understand that no replies typically just means we don't know the answer. We cannot be expected to know everything! And when I look at your posts over the last bunch of years (see here) I see that has only happened a couple times. So for you to say you "never get replies" is just not true.

I understand not having our problems resolved can be frustrating. What I don't understand is getting mad at us because you did not receive the FREE help you wanted, when you wanted it, then declaring you are leaving because you didn't get it.

What I do see quite often in your threads is, IMO, even more disturbing. And that is where you have received help from a volunteer helper and it is YOU who totally ignored their help and you leaving threads dangling where no one knows if or how you resolved your issues, or if given advice helped.

Forums are places to learn and to share what we have learned. As helpers, we cannot fix your problems. We do not have your computer sitting in front of us. So we can only help you fix your problems. We cannot intuitively know everything about your computer, the problem, or your skillsets. So we ask questions to get the full picture so we can give as good and as applicable advice as possible. That requires answers back from you.

Sharing what we have learned is so others may benefit too. That means if you fix your problem, share it! Tell us what you did so (1) we know if our advice was correct and useful and (2) so future readers who may have the same problem may benefit too. And if the advice we gave didn't help, share that too! Don't just leave threads dangling.

Below are just a few of your threads where you just abandoned the thread leaving helpers' questions unanswered and everyone wondering if the problem was resolved, or not.

I could go on and on - but the point is made. Forums are two way streets. They are give and take, not just take.
