Unfortunately, I have 4 Word documents open. I want to save 3 and stop the 4th. I'm afraid if I end task through task manager, I'll lose the changes I made on the other 3 documents. I attempted to copy and paste information from a website, but it must be incompatible and stopped responding (other than the ongoing rotating circle. Any suggestions on how to do this without losing information?

So the open documents are all frozen/locked? You can't copy and paste at all?

If so, that is not good, for sure.

If me, I would walk away. See if time is on your side. But noting you posted here 30 minutes ago - not sure that is useful advice. :(

TM on the one you don't want might work to close that one, but no way of knowing if that will unlock the others.

Can you use File Explorer to navigate through your files? If so, I believe, by default, Word save a draft every 10 minutes - you might get most of your work if you copy those draft copies off.

Closing Word "might" prompt to save your work.

Sorry, I have nothing more to offer.

I just closed Word, as nothing was working. When I reopened it, I was given the option to safe all but the corrupted file that was giving me the original problem. Problem is solved. Thanks for your input. I thought this was what I needed to do, but I was scared I'd lose some information I just updated. All is well... and saved.

Good news. I was afraid you would lose everything too.

If me, I would verify my AutoRecover settings. In my Office 2016, I open word, then from the left panel, Options > Save. Then under Save documents, make sure "Save AutoRecover..." is checked. I have mine set to 5 minutes. Then make sure the "Keep last AutoRecover version..." is checked too. The default save location is fine for me - you might to change yours.

My autorecovery was set the same, so I guess it works properly. Thanks.
