Word 2007 Deleting Parts of Formatting when opening saved files

I installed WPS for a while, and it opens .docx files without even asking me. Today, when I opened I downoaded or saved .docx, it shows all the formatting that was there before, but the same files in M
S Word 2007, the table of contents is missing and is instead replaced by "{TOC \o 1-3 \t "heading 4, 4,HEADING 5, 5,HEADING 7, 6"} Strangely, with code, when I copied and pasted it here, it showed the Table of Contents -- but that didn't happen on the Word itself. Also, the same with headers or footers with page numbers -- they two were replaced by code like [PAGE} or {PAGE MERGE FORMAT] (ALTERNATIVELY).
I uninstalled WPS Office, and reinstalled Office 2007, but the problems shows up again. Could someone help me

 

Hi Moorty - if you haven't already solved it try this:

Menu Button - Word Options - Advanced - Show document content make sure the box for Show field codes instead of their values is unchecked
