Have a look through the tips here Barry. Some Bill has already suggested.
How to Stop Your Computer From Randomly Waking Up From Sleep Mode

Here's something else I found on Google:

There is a good chance that your PC's Network Adapter is waking it. This is a Power & Sleep issue.

You may disable this ability by locating your PC's Network Adapter in Device Manager and opening the Properties window. Then, click the Power Management tab and uncheck the box for "Allow this device to wake the computer".

Anytime I have personally encountered this issue, the above has been a permanent solution

Now, that's what I was looking for... a quick easy fix. All I had to do was uncheck the allow to wake box and all is fine. I don't understand how it worked fine for years and just started acting up. Maybe it had to do with keeping it in sleep mode for too long without restarting the computer. I'll restart it every other week and see if that works. Restarting the computer does speed it up, but I'm generally not in a rush. Thank you very much for the solution.

Nice catch retiredlearner! I have seen that solution before - those little gray cells must have dumped it. :(

I'm glad that worked. And thanks Barry for coming back with your update! :)
