Resolved Update failure

    Have you disabled and removed any peripherals?
    Run msconfig and enable SAFE MODE with Network. and Restart and see if that helps.

    I would forget about using Windows Update and update your build of Windows 10 manually using the Media Creation Tool.

    Once you update your build of Windows 10 you should be on version 21H1 and that should solve your issue.

    Won't this reinstall Windows 10? If so, will I lose anything on my computer? I have no desire to start from scratch. Am I supposed to click on Update Now or Download Tool Now?

    Download the Media Creation Tool then when you run it select the option to upgrade this PC now and it will upgrade your existing build of Windows 10 without removing any of your data. I would backup your data just in case but the media creation tool is designed to update your system while keeping all your programs and data intact.

    Thanks for the follow-up, but after Evan's time consuming recommendation, and 3 minor updates after that, my computer is finally completely updated. Hopefully, I won't face the same problem next month. Thank you everyone for your help.

    Download and run WSUS offline update.

    Sometimes Windows services and 3rd party programs can mess with the updates.
