I don't know whether it is the latest Win10 update or the latest Edge update but the whites on my computer seem to be brighter and all blend, there is no difference between the background page and say the explorer page so it is very difficult to see were on box ends and another begins as no outline edge is available to show the box outline, also the Blacks are now washed out not a deep Black as before hope i have made what the problem is if not please let me know what i need to explain

Even if your graphics card/chip uses a Windows driver I see no reason for Windows update or Edge to affect brightness or contrast which is set on the monitor controls. Have you tried increasing the contrast and reducing the brightness?

I'm with Pete on this. I don't see how (or even why) a Windows or Edge update would change those settings. And the Windows native graphics driver follows a set industry standard and I don't believe those have changed either. If you installed specific drivers for your graphics, then maybe a driver update from the hardware maker was installed and reverted back the defaults, but that seems unlikely to me too.

I think if me, I would swap monitors with another computer and see if the problem moves to the second computer, or appears on this computer with the second monitor.

Do you mean the settings via the monitor's own internal menu? Is there a "Reset" option to take it back to factory defaults so you can start over from a baseline?

I have seen monitors where the backlighting was in the initial stages of failing. And like a lightbulb that burns extra bright before burning out, so does the backlighting. This was more common with CCFL backlighting, but it could happen with LED backlighting too.

I would try a different monitor on this computer and that monitor on another computer and see what happens.

I've been watching this Thread and I have no idea what your hardware is!
You don't mention the Brand of Monitor, whether it is in fact an LED monitor.
    How old it is.
To get more precise help - PLEASE provide the info.
