All of a sudden, the Task Bar shows only three icons, on the right side of it, even if there are more applications running. Right to it there are two up and down arrows, next to the Notification Area (actually, next to the Language applet).

With the help of these arrows, one can switch between the running apps.

I want back my old task bar, where all the open applications were shown, and I want the scroll arrows gone.

I've looked everywhere, and found nothing.

    Can you help this dummy?

Right click on the taskbar, select Properties. Look in "Notification Area" Take the tick mark out of "Hide inactive icons ".

So sorry, reboot. It is not that.

Hide inactive icons is to customize the Notification Area. It is not the issue. I am talking about the Task Bar proper.

Thanks for your help anyway. It is probably my difficult in expressing myself in understable English.

    best,

    Sorry. Found the answer:

If you unlock the Task Bar, and drag the left boundary rightwards, so as to leave a short space, and then re-lock it again, only a small space will be available for minimized applications. Then, the up and down arrows will appear - to allow switching between the apps - and only a certain number of applications will show, according to the space that you left available. The problem is solved unlocking the Task Bar, and dragging the boundary to the left until it touches the Fast Launch area.

    Very smart XP solution, indeed.

Thanks to everybody, and I beg your pardon,
