2021-02 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10, version 20H2 (KB4601554)

This update repeatedly fails to install, with the message - Failed to install on dd/mm/yyyy - 0x8024001e

It never seems to appear on the Update screen so I assume it is trying to load in the background.

    Any ideas on the issue?

Is this update essential or should I just ignore it?

What version of Windows 10 do you have?
This update is for Windows 10, version 20H2.

I would ignore it unless you are having problems with other software that requires .NET framework.

Running version 20H2 so it should know what to do,I suppose.

However, as it displayed on the "Other Updates" list it would seem logical to ignore the issue atm.

    Thx for your response.

Now here's a funny thing. Just after I posted my last reply, wonder, oh wonders, joy of joys, I had the message that "2021-02 Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10, version 20H2 (KB4601554)" was ready to install.

Just done that and it installed correctly, (and quite quickly).

The odd thing to me was that once that had installed correctly all of the previous references, (10 or so), to failed installations of this "update" were deleted.

I wonder how many other "failures" get automatically fixed over time?

Not sure, I have Windows Update 100% disabled.
