Transitioning my wife from Win7 PC to Win10 laptop. Using MS 365 for apps. She wants all her Outlook contacts and such from the Win7 machine to be on the Win10 machine. I've read how to do that, but I'm having issues getting the .pst off the Win7 machine onto a thumb drive so I can import it onto the Win10 machine. The .pst is about 12 GB, but trying to copy it onto either a 16 GB or even a 32 GB thumb drive, I keep getting a message that the file is too large to fit on the thumb drive. Any suggestions or ideas on what the problem might be? TIA..

Hi Purple Haze, did you try this process?

How do I export contacts from Windows 7 to Windows 10?
    1. Export your Outlook contacts as a CSV file. Open Outlook on your Windows 10 PC. Click File. Select Open & Export. Click Import/Export. ...
    2. Import the CSV file in the new Outlook client. Open Outlook on your Windows 7 PC. Click File. Select Open & Export. Click Import/Export.

Further to my previous Post, I have recently guided my brother through the process of moving his Hotmail account contacts to a new Yahoo email account.
He's using a W10 comp and making a new email account in Yahoo and all his contacts were imported without any problem.
It took a few minutes to transfer between hotmail and yahoo (I didn't check the size of his contact list) but it was completed without any hitch.

Food for thought... If you'll be using Outlook 365 on the new computer why not access all the old mail AND contacts?!?!?

BUT - first things first... Look at the Properties of the flash drives to what their "File System" says... I'm guessing it'll say FAT which has a FOUR Gig file size limit. You'll have to reformat to NTSF to fix it.

Once you get the PST file onto the new machine AND are setting up the account in Outlook - tell it you want to reuse an existing PST file.....and point to the file you copied over.

Thanks all for the suggestions. She wants 'everything' from the old PC and not just the contacts so will try the NTFS format of the thumb drive first. I don't have a network set up to be able to use it for file transfer. Stay tuned!
