I have W7 installed on a ssd with a hdd as storage. I have another ssd i want to install w10 onto it and have them dual boot(probably with EasyBCD). My question is do i need to take off the W7 drives (new ssd already has drive letter assigned by me to it) in order to install w10? Do I need to unhook the dvd drives? What steps should i take to try to avoid a snafu? I have the latest install file from Microsoft on a USB stick i got using the tool MS provides. This is a UEFI bios also. Do i need to make ssd formatted with GPT or MBR? I reallly want to use w10 but not lose my w7. I have key for w10 already too. Please help :)

You purchased a Product Key for W10?
If you have a USB with W10 on it - I would disconnect the other drives.
Have your empty SSD connected as the only drive and plug in the USB and sit back and watch the install.
Just follow any instructions that MS may request and enjoy.
Once it's finished - you can do your thing with EasyBCD, ;)

That drive letter is only known to the operating system on which it was assigned (W7 I assume). The disk/partition onto which the running operating system is installed will always be C:. When you reconnect the SSD with W7 and run W10 on the new SSD, you will have to assign a drive letter to the SSD with W7. (Well, not "will have to", but if you don't, the OS will assign the next free drive letter.)

On my system, a dual boot with XP and W10, when running XP it shows it's partition as C: and the partition with W10 as D:. When running W10, it shows it's partition as C: and the partition with XP as D:.
