I searched for youtube in the forums but did not see any discussion of how to fix video 'stuttering'/buffering issues. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, any good permanent 'fixes"?

    Hi,

Have you installed the latest video drivers for your video adapter? What video card does your computer have? Have you updated to Windows 10 version 1909?

Be sure your browser is 100% up to date. Over loaded browsers can also cause videos to lag or buffer so be sure you only have one tab open when trying to watch a video. Clear clear unnecessary cache, cookies and histories.
Some browser extensions can slow down video buffering and even block YouTube videos. Find the extension, disable or uninstall it. You'll have to disable all the extensions and re-enable them one by one to find out which one, if any, is causing the problems. Lastly, in today's world with so many folks locked down there are many people using their computers to stream youtube videos and many other videos and some internet providers are "over worked" and have experienced speed reductions. Videos do require a high speed connection and if your internet speed is slower then you will experience bad picture quality and buffering. See this information from YouTube as to what speed you need:
    • 3+ Mbps for standard definition video.
    • 7+ Mbps to stream a single high definition show if no other devices are using the network.
    • 13+ Mbps to stream shows in high definition if other devices are using the same network.

Have you done an Internet Speed Test, https://www.speedtest.net/ to make sure that this isn't a bandwidth issue?

What video adapter does your computer have?

Have you tried playing videos in Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome to see if that makes any difference?

I should have said yes to latest drivers, Invidia GeForce GT240, and yes to latest Windows update. Sorry for the confusion.

Not really sure what I'm looking at. Lots of yellow and red columns passing by. Is higher better or is lower better?

Are you sure you are getting 151 on download speed and please clarify...151 what? What type of internet do you have and how many others are using it?

Try turning hardware acceleration off (or on) in your web browser.
Instructions will vary depending on the browser you're using
If chrome just search for - chrome hardware acceleration

It is explained on the website,(https://www.thesycon.de/eng/latency_check.shtml) anything above the yellow could be a problem.

ISP is Cox in Omaha NE. Not more than a handful on in my neighborhood at a time. The 151 is MB download (running three different speed tests but of course the time of day varies). Have done all the other things mentioned but lag still happens.

    Have a look at: https://www.google.com/get/videoqualityreport/

As to DPC Latency Checker, Windows 10 will most likely show incorrect values as its build on Win8:
