If I pause a video being played by Microsoft's "Films & TV" app and the computer goes to sleep, when I wake the computer the next day to continue where it was paused, the sound plays fine but the video pauses on frames, changing from time to time but not in any way synced to the sound. Only way I've found to fix this is to note how far through it is then close and reopen the video file & reposition where it was. Windows Media Player doesn't show this problem, so I now tend to go back and use that instead. Of course, every now and then a Windows [major] Update reverts my default choice back to "Films & TV" app (mutter mutter).

I haven't been able to find anything on Microsoft or other website describing the problem, let alone a solution.

Has anyone else experienced this & have a better cure?

I can't see it being codec related. Windows media Player is fine, as is VLC. It's just Films & TV app.

Have you tried Troubleshooting Microsoft Apps?
Settings > Apps > scroll to bottom.

Thanks for the suggestion, and apologies for slow reply.

Been through all the "troubleshooting". Even down to uninstall, reboot, reinstall. After all that it's now worse ... just need to resize or fullscreen it to get same problem, although if I wait 2 minutes it *might* come right.

I'm going to uninstall the app, it's useless. However, I suspect Microsoft will reinstall it with one of their Windows Updates some time in the future (& as they've done numerous times before, make it the default player yet again). Maybe it'll be fixed by then ... if not I'll just have to remove it again.

Have you tried VLC to see if it is MS's Films and TV app that is faulty?

As mentioned in original post, Windows Media Player and VLC (even "Media Classic" if I've remembered the name right .. not at the right computer now to check that) work fine; without any issue.

Sorry, missed that on your 2nd Post.
Only other suggestion at this point would be to run sfc /scannow to ensure there are no File errors.
This would definitely point towards an MS problem.

As I don't use this App I thought I would open it to see what "gives".
I assume you did all your Trouble shooting through the Apps > Advanced Options?

    Yup, thru Apps > Advanced....
Also done the SFC /scannow (preceded by the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth command - as detailed in https://support.microsoft.com/en-nz...er-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system).

    Thanks for all your help.

I suppose you have used MS Feedback to let them know of your problem.
I'm sorry I haven't been able secure a fix for you.

Thanks for that link, I've installed that codec now. Retested the app, so far seems to be behaving.
I'll treat the issue as fixed. Thanks for the persistence on this, much appreciated.
