After using the Office 2000 repair utility all icons for minimize, maximize, close, scrollbar arrows, etc display as very small numbers and symbols. I have reinstalled the marlett.ttf font file, set its hidden and system attributes and deleted the ttfcache file all to no avail. Are there any other things to try?

    Off the bat, No Clue.

Please post why you needed Office repair, and what led you to changing the files you mentioned. This will most likely be the best way to start.

    Hey Rookie

I used the Office repair tool because I had an outgoing mail message that seemed stuck halfway through. I t prevented me from sending or receiving mail. Eventually it finished, but I was left with this wierd after-effect. The two issues seem unrelated.

    Again

I change dthe files mentioned due to advice from the Microsoft Knowlege Base. Apparently Marlett.ttf is the source of the correct characters for display and if it becomes corrupted the symbols will not display correctly. The solution was for Win95 but it was also listed under Win98

Can you post that specific Knowledge base link?

You may want to just do an uninstall - Reboot and Reinstall.
